Apple Crumble Recipe

Apple Crumble
Apple Crumble

This is the most yummy apple crumble recipe I've ever tasted.

This recipe for Apple Crumble serves 4 people.

Time required: 50 minutes
(10 minutes to prepare, then cook for 40 minutes)

Ingredients you'll need:

For the base

  • 2 tbsp plain flour
  • 60 ml lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 1 ½ kg apples, red cooking apples work well
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 L frozen yoghurt, vanilla

For the topping

  • ⅓ cup of plain flour
  • ¾ cup of brown sugar
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • 4 tbsp margarine
  • ½ cup of rolled oats

How to make Apple Crumble:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C and lightly grease an ovenproof dish with margarine or cooking spray to prevent the mixture from sticking
  2. Mix the plain flour, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon together in a bowl
  3. Peel the apples, and core them to remove the seeds. Then slice the apples into 1cm pieces, and put into another bowl. Pour the lemon juice on top
  4. Add the mixture you prepared in step 2 to this bowl, add the vanilla essence, and ensure the sliced apples are evenly coated. Put this into the greased ovenproof dish
  5. To make the topping, combine the oats, flour, brown sugar and cinnamon in a medium bowl. Using your fingers, rub the spread into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle over the apples. Bake for about 40 minutes or until the topping is golden and the apples are tender
